Sri Muthukumaran Institute of Technology (SMIT), popularly known as SMIT, is an engineering institution located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. SMIT was approved by AICTE and affiliated to Anna University. It was started to provide technical education to the socially and economically backward communities. With the able guidance of distinguished members (Sri Muthukumaran Educational Trust), the trust has several successful ventures in primary and technical education in Tamil Nadu for over two decades. Accredited by NBA, New Delhi The SMIT campus is spread on a serene sylvan setting on the eastern side of the famous Mangadu Kamatchi Amman Temple. The atmosphere is conducive to academic and research pursuit in an area of 43.6 acres at east of Chikkarayapuram, Kundrathur Road, Mangadu, Chennai - 600 069, and on the outskirts west of Chennai city, on the Kumananchavadi-Kundrathur Tambaram road. It is about 15 km from Tambaram Railway station and about 23 km from Parry's corner. It is easily accessible by frequent city buses and also by a large fleet of college buses. ==Academics==
